Ep 23 | Dave Bare and Michael C. Parris
In this episode of Crash Radio we are joined by short-story writer Dave Bare and country singer-songwriter Michael C. Parris.
Dave Bare, co-host and founder of the popular library podcast, Dave and the Borrowers, is an amateur short story writer and Asheboro Librarian. His stories have been published in Thrive Magazine, accompanied by art work from his dear friend Rich Powell. One of which, The Turning Tree, is set in the fictional Asheboro analog town of Hantonville, NC. He is the lucky husband of author Micki Bare and step-father to RhinoLeap's own, Evan Finch.
Michael C. Parris is from Millboro, NC, but grew up in Randolph County, NC.
When Covid hit, Michael started posting his songs on social media, and, as fate would have it, wound up writing songs with Will Kimbrough, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and producer. Will became a mentor and a friend, helping Michael polish his skills. Michael's album “HoneyBee” blends roots music styles, including country, bluegrass, roots-rock and folk with simple lyrics and beautiful imagery, harkening back to Michael’s Randolph County beginnings.
Crash Radio is sponsored by Carolina Classic Cars and produced by RhinoLeap Productions, a company that creates theater, music, dance, and documentaries in North Carolina. Each episode of Crash Radio features local musicians, writers, and storytellers presented as a live event in Asheboro, NC, which is then edited for broadcast. This episode was recorded live at Four Saints Brewery in Downtown Asheboro.
